Internationally-known
artist Simon Bull will appear at Fine Art and Framing Gallery, Marietta,
for the third summer artists walk August 8 from 6 to 9 pm. Much of his
work will be on display and on sale, and he will remarque prints and
create “original” art on them. Born
in England in 1958, Simon Bull is the son of an army chaplain. He spent
his early years on the edge of the rail forest in Guyana but moved often
with his family, spending time in Hong Kong and London. He attended
Gloucester College of Art and Design and Leeds Metropolitan University. Traveling
extensively to the East, he trekked through the foothills of the
Himalayas, toured the Mediterranean and spent many weeks painting the
mountains of the English Lake District where he now lives. He married
Joanna while still in art school, and the Bulls have four children ages
5 to 19. The family lives near England’s border with Scotland in a
converted 18th century barn. His studio is three years older
than America. Simon
paints with acrylics and prefers to paint on very large canvases. His
work is filled with color and a vibrant style for which he has become
world famous. “If I can
touch a life. If I can reveal something old in a new way, if I can
enrich a soul on its journey into the eternal, then my painting, my
living, has not been in vain.” He
won his first art competition at the age of six and held his first
one-man exhibit in Hong Kong at the age of eighteen.
In 1997 he was honored with the UK’s best-selling artist award.
In 1999 his original “Sailing Home to You” sold at Harrods in London
for $50,000. His work has been exhibited in more than eleven countries
and is collected by the British Royal family and royalty in the Middle
East. His
work was introduced in the United States in 1996 and is currently being
published and distributed by Simon Bull International, with corporate
offices in Monterey, California. Simon will be on hand at the Artists Walk to meet and greet those who attend.
